My wife (Donna) of twenty seven years was murdered on March 19, 2005 at 3:15 PM.   A felon(Cox) being chased by the Dequincy (Louisiana) police Calcasieu Parish police at speeds exceeding 100 mph intentionally hit us head on killing my wife and leaving me to morn her death.  He had previously been in the custody of the Amite (Louisiana) police being questioned for incestuous rape of a minor (his three year old granddaughter) but he wanted a cigerette and they let him go outside unescourted at which time he fled.

On November 12, 2005 at approx 2:30 P.M. in the fourteenth Judicial District of Calcasieu Parish, Judge David Ritchie sentenced Walter Ray Cox Sr. to serve a total of 55 years in prison without the possibility of parole.  On the charge of Manslaughter he received the maximum sentence of 40 years.  On the charge of Aggravated Criminal Property Damage he received the maximum sentence of 15 years.  These two sentences by Louisiana law will be served Concurrently because they resulted from the same act.  The act of running into us resulting in Donna’s death and the destruction of our car.  On the charge of Aggravated Interference Of A Highway of Commerce he received the maximum sentence of 15 years.  This sentence is to be served consecutively since it was determined that this could be attributed to the chase as well as the wreck.
